Sometimes it helps to make with someone specific in mind! This is a thank you gift.
...I've a lot of Thank You and a few other things to catch up on.

Delivered to Made In Chico today - the foreground items, Variegated Blue bowl, two mugs, medium vase, Red tiny vase, three mugs.
Note the variation in handling - size and shape *update* We put four mugs up on the "mug wall" - the rest held back 'til next time. From this week's glaze firing, wares delivered to Made In Chico today.
Above, medium teapot*, a large** mouth jar and a mug with Green glaze poured over, a "Wave" mug and pair of nested bowls Variegated Blue. Below, the first Chico medallion mugs - one Red, one Clear Blue; that same Green mug, and two mugs with teabag lids - one Red, one Variegated Blue. *The teapot comes with two tea mugs. To the prior teapot's buyer, be in touch with Made In Chico, we can get you your two tea mugs! **The opening starts out at 100mm, a nice size for a larger jar. The next size down, 80mm, is a nice size for mugs/cups/tumblers/teapots and smaller jars. Above, to be reclaimed - scraps, trimmings, oops! pots and their handles.
...took the picture on account of how pleased I was with that profile - even thickness, rather straight, and just enough at the bottom to trim a foot ring into. Below, in progress and finished feet. The rusted metal thing, that the new trimming tool, made from a Sawzall blade. Wares delivered to Made In Chico day afore yesterday. Thanks again to Made In Chico management and staff! Always a smile and kind comment or two. The left and middle bowls, what's left of a bowl set after separating the prime from non-prime (the other smalls have open pits on the insides). The large bowl needs to be larger yet to match up with four smalls... the "Terry" clay is a hit though!
There will be a five-bowl set in Terry clay next year!! The right bowl is a "heavy" - nice for mixing batter, serving, savoring a large serving of hot food. Wares drying slooowly; it's cool in the Studio, raining outside.
Throwing the jar and lids earlier this week, then checking the diameters before moving to the next - within a half millimeter, each one! It does happen, and more often as the months and years slip by. 80mm is the most common lidded form size I'm making, by far. |
