Expression through pottery.

Creating functional pieces that people love to use - that's the goal!
Circa 1973, having seen clay thrown on a wheel, learning to throw became a "bucket list" item; forty-five years later, I sat before a wheel at our local JC ceramic lab, enjoyed a deep breath, and began to throw.
Pottery satisfies the need to create. It involves skill, technical detail, and process - everything in its own time (a good combination for me). Seeing my pieces used and enjoyed by others, this completes the pottery cycle.
I've taken many roles in my working life; coach, teacher, tutor, machinist, and construction tradesman were favorites. My second university stint focused on computer science, which led to technical work in a steel mill, with a general ledger group, and with a software development group; then, thankfully, I was able to retire!
Pottery is a hobby for me, albeit a serious one. As I continue to explore functional forms, sale of my work supports acquisition of new material and equipment, energy costs, and donations to local organizations.
Material
All work is in mid range clay fired to 2120°F, sourced from IMCO, Aardvark Clay, Laguna Clay, and Clay Planet.
Glazes are prepared on site from raw ingredients sourced from IMCO, Aardvark Clay, Clay Planet, and US Pigment. All functional ware food surfaces receive a "liner glaze" - a durable clear or white surface.
Glaze recipes are from reputable sources and follow established best practices; all are food safe.
Ware may be microwaved; however, dark clays (containing iron) will heat faster - be careful, and/or use an oven mitt.
Ware may be run through the dishwasher*, however, hand washing is recommended.
*Hand wash red clay ware, and dry promptly.
Shipping and Payment
All shipping via USPS or UPS. I will package and ship anywhere in the U.S. - shipping cost only, I provide the materials and time.
Payment via credit card, cash, check, money order, or PayPal.
I'm set up to process credit card payments now! ...in person at my studio, at shows, and remotely over the phone.
A percentage of all sales, always, to local Non-Profit organizations, fourteen percent minimum.
